Founded in 2003, West Market Management grew out of an effort to combat the loss of affordable housing options due to the rapid gentrification of University City in West Philadelphia. Existing for the benefit of its non-profit parent, The Partnership CDC, West Market Management first acquired a modest portfolio of 11 scattered site rental units North of Market Street in June, 2003. Subsequently, WMM was able to purchase additional rental property in its target area between Market Street and Baltimore Avenue, as far West as Cobbs Creek.

West Market Management aims to provide affordable, unsubsidized rental housing of high quality in desirable neighborhoods. In addition to purely residential property, West Market Management also invests in mixed-use properties in conjunction with the Economic Development arm of The Partnership CDC.
